Another hockey season finished

Finally, another hockey season is completed, this is Jerry’s third year. Overall he did some improvement  but with a lot of pressure from me. And this year I am become a team manager first time, last year I was the assistant manager.

Some thoughts, complains and suggestions here,

1. Talk to kids about competition, sometime the hard story, you need practice hard and play hard to win. Lots of people said Atom B is play for fun, but not win a single regular game is definitely not fun for the players, parents and coachs.
2. Try to avoid a team without a coach sign up to pick up the team member. There were five teams at Atom B four with the coach applied, and unfortunately Jerry was picked up by some club staff for the team without coach initially because he is one of the top score of Atom B. The guy from the club picked 4 or 5 players, and the rest team I GUESS was from the poll that these four coachs did not pick. This is cause a very unbalanced team and that is very bad. We have strong evidence that team plays much better with only 10 players instead the full team, 14 players.
3. The head coach and the whole coach team is good, I respect them very much. But I am an IT guy and I believe data. I really like that coach team maybe with the help from parents can do some data analysis, such as forward/backward skating speed both with or without puck, turning, shouting, break, pass and block, etc. And come with more specific training plan, do not train the whole team together or not even forward or defense team. More specific, e.g. strong/weak shouting, fast/slow skating, good/bad passing, etc.
4. Personally, I totally agree one idea of our head coach which is the player shall do the best to join the practice. Basically, if you do not come to practice then please do not come to the game, period, or you will be the bottleneck.

Re: 饿 - hungry in Chinese Mandarin

Date back to around November 25th, 2007

About 10 days, the cute boy knows say hungry in Chinese. We did a test that “饿不饿” do you hungry in Chinese, he actually return a sound like “饿”. So cute my baby boy.

It was a great show, Kids use movement and emotion to tell the story silently. Jerry was in a story that happened in a restaurant. So emotional, very fun to watch.

From QR code to Scan2D Book Reading Card to French Caillou Read Aloud on YouTube

QR code is not popular here in Ottawa/Gatineau area. So we are looking for more ideas to help people using the QR code. About two months ago, Bo (my business partner) comes with a new idea that links a children’s book, YouTube read aloud, Google review and Amazon store all together with a QR code –we called QR code reading card. A pretty good idea, so we start working on that and just a few days it is ready. Check this scan2dbook.com if interested.

When we work on some initial content, Bo works for English and I work for French content because I am living in Quebec. I ask Jerry provide me a list of the French books so I can find the read aloud on YouTube, but unfortunately, there’s not much content available on YouTube in French. Jerry was beside me when I did the research and also not happy with what we have found.

Somehow, I cannot remember the exact conversation, but Jerry and I decided that Jerry will read some French book and put on YouTube. For the purpose, that:

I 

1. I can get some French content for my QR code reading card (this becomes less important because I found something else is more fun!)
2. Read French book for the children, teach them to read and fewer TVs, which parents or daycare staffs do not need read it again and again.
3. Read French book for the children for the parents do not speak in French, this is Jerry’s idea because he still remembers how upset that I refuse to read the French book for him, I do not speak French and sorry…
4. Let Jerry practice read the book aloud and become a YouTuber!
5. Hope, maybe this can encourage other children 10 – 12 years to read books for the small kids.

Then, we spent some time did some research together and finally, we picked up to read French Caillou books.

Caillou books have been made since 1989 by Chouette Publishing Inc. The series was originally broadcast in French in Canada, and the episodes were later translated into English, and re-runs in English began on PBS and PBS Kids Sprout in the United States. The original books were also in French. Caillou was designed primarily for toddlers. It was created by child developmental psychologists.

Caillou is an average, imaginative, bald four-year-old boy with a love for forms of transportive machinery such as rocket ships and airplanes. A dreamer, Caillou is prone to frequent dream sequences in some episodes, visualizing his daydreams and hopes, and many episodes chronicle his normal daily experiences with his parents, friends, and neighbors. Caillou particularly loves his stuffed dinosaur Rexy and teddy bear Teddy, along with his pet cat Gilbert, all of whom are depicted as puppets in segments featured in the earlier episodes.

Each Caillou book talks about a small story or topic that helps parents teach and explain environment, common sense, good habit, and love, etc. And I consider it is the best book for 2 to 5 years kids and their parents.

Back after ten years later

Really under estimate how busy a father will be, but I am back, after ten years.

Things happened in past ten years:

1. Mom (my wife Elaine) and Jerry back to China for about 2 years and come back to Canada.
2. Mom back to work and the position getting better and better

1. Myself still work as an IT consultant 
2. Start up a small business with one of my friend Bo, for a QR code service company Scan2D.com
3. Consider myself a good father and better and better

1. Jerry went to a French daycare
2. Jerry starts play piano
3. Jerry go to Montessori a famous private elementary school
4. Jerry starts play chess
5. Jerry play soccer
6. Jerry play Hockey! And,
7. Jerry read Caillou on Youtube. Read Caillou Book in French

Week Three

Crying during the bath

After about 10 days, we saw there's no more scab on his bellybutton, I have decided gave him the bath more frequently than before, about every two days. At every beginning, he feels nothing, only start crying when we wrap him with the towel. Then he seems remember this on the second maybe the third time, he start cry everytime when we've put him into the washroom. Not like that shaking, weak push on the third day, when I gave him an shower, three weeks of time makes him much stronger, but I can still handle him easily. He's still so tiny and I can put him on my front arm.

We use Aveeno (infant/baby) body lotion for him, he seems like it. I do love him very much, but both my wife and I missed that time, when he was only a few weeks old, he's so tiny and lovely. A smell or even a crying, everything from him let you smell the happyness.

The second week

Things were getting much better, after I consulted some friends who have two or three kids, we have started build the routine for Jerry. It actually worked very well, plus I found he's more satisfied if I let him sleep on stomach. Sleep on stomach is not recommended by the doctors in these years, but I have consulted the doctor and also did some research online by myself. Then I decided let him practice during the day time when I can monitor his breath.


From the day ten, if I remember correct, Jerry was be able to sleep over the night, from about 11:30 to 6:00 am. But feeding him at 11:00 pm is a tough job for me, he's falling asleep all the time and I have no choice except nip his ear to wake him up...


But in the morning, it is so fast, he can drink a whole bottle about 180 ml milk in just a few minutes. A small monster, Ah?
